DRAFT CONSTITUTION FOR THE SOCIETY FOR INNOVATIONS IN SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND ENVIRONMENT
Preamble
We, the members of the Society for Innovations in Science, Technology, and Environment (SOISTEN), in order to promote the advancement of science, technology, and environmental sustainability, establish this constitution as the foundation for our organization.
Article I: Name and Purpose
1. The name of this organization shall be the Society for Innovations in Science, Technology, and Environment (SOISTEN).
2. The purpose of SOISTEN shall be to:
- Promote innovation and excellence in science, technology, and environmental research.
- Provide a platform for scientists, technologists, and environmentalists to share knowledge and ideas.
- Support education and capacity building in science, technology, and environmental sustainability.
- Foster collaboration and partnership among stakeholders in the pursuit of sustainable development.
Article II: Membership
1. Membership in SOISTEN shall be open to individuals and organizations interested in promoting the purposes of the Society.
2. Membership categories shall include:
- Ordinary members
- Student members
- Institutional members
- Honorary members
3. Membership benefits shall include:
- Access to SOISTEN publications and events
- Opportunities for networking and collaboration
- Eligibility for awards and recognition
Article III: Governance
1. The governance of SOISTEN shall be vested in the Executive Council, which shall comprise the following officers:
- President
- Vice President
- Secretary
- Assistant Secretary
- Treasurer
- Financial Secretary
- Public Relations Officer (PRO)
-Editor-In-Chief
- Business Manager for the Society's Journal (IJISTER)
2. The Executive Council shall be responsible for:
- Implementing the decisions of the General Assembly
- Managing the finances and resources of SOISTEN
- Coordinating the activities and events of SOISTEN
- Representing SOISTEN in national and international forums
Article IV: Officers
1. The President shall be the chief executive officer of SOISTEN and shall preside over all meetings of the General Assembly and the Executive Council.
2. The Vice President shall assist the President and assume the duties of the President in the event of a vacancy.
3. The Secretary shall be responsible for keeping the records and minutes of SOISTEN and shall perform such other duties as may be assigned by the President.
4. The Assistant Secretary shall assist the Secretary and assume the duties of the Secretary in the event of a vacancy.
5. The Treasurer shall be responsible for managing the finances of SOISTEN and shall perform such other duties as may be assigned by the President.
6. The Financial Secretary shall assist the Treasurer and assume the duties of the Treasurer in the event of a vacancy.
7. The PRO shall be responsible for promoting the activities and events of SOISTEN and shall perform such other duties as may be assigned by the President.
8.The Editor-in-Chief (EIC) shall be the highest-ranking editor of our journal and mews letter. His key functions include the following key functions of an Editor-in-Chief:
i. Setting editorial direction*: The EIC defines the publication's editorial vision, mission, and scope.
ii. Manuscript evaluation: The EIC reviews and evaluates manuscripts submitted for publication, determining their suitability for the publication.
iii. Assignment of manuscripts: The EIC assigns manuscripts to associate editors, section editors, or reviewers for peer review.
iv. Peer review management: The EIC oversees the peer review process, ensuring that manuscripts are reviewed fairly and efficiently.
v. Decision-making: The EIC makes final decisions on manuscript acceptance, rejection, or revision.
vi. Content selection: The EIC selects articles, editorials, and other content for publication.
vii. Editorial quality control: The EIC ensures that published content meets the publication's editorial standards.
viii. Communication with authors*: The EIC corresponds with authors, providing feedback and guidance throughout the publication process.
ix. Journal development*: The EIC contributes to the development and growth of the publication, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes.
x. Representing the publication: The EIC represents the publication in academic, professional, and social contexts.
9. The Business Manager for the Society's Journal (IJISTER) shall be responsible for managing the publication and distribution of the journal and shall perform such other duties as may be assigned by the President.
Article V: Elections
1. The officers of SOISTEN shall be elected by the General Assembly for a term of two years.
2. Elections shall be held at the annual general meeting of SOISTEN.
3. Nominations for office shall be submitted in writing to the Secretary at least 30 days prior to the election.Draft constitution for the Society for Innovations in Science, Technology and Environment among stakeholders in the pursuit of sustainable development.
Article VI: Meetings
1. The Annual General Meeting shall be held at least once a year to receive reports, discuss business, and make decisions.
2. The Executive Council shall meet at least quarterly to implement the decisions of the AGM and manage the affairs of SOISTEN.
3. Special meetings may be convened by the President or at the request of at least 10 members of SOISTEN.
Article VII: Amendments
1. This constitution may be amended by a two-thirds majority vote of the General Assembly.
2. Proposed amendments shall be submitted in writing to the Secretary at least 30 days prior to the meeting at which they are to be considered.
Article VIII: Dissolution
1. SOISTEN may be dissolved by a two-thirds majority vote of the General Assembly.
2. In the event of dissolution, the assets of SOISTEN shall be distributed to a charitable organization or organizations as determined by the General Assembly.
